BEGINNING OF BOOK 3!!!

Chapter 1

Zeke tries to coax Ivy out of a tree, where she is sulking. Later Jared comes out and offers to play Monopoly with her, and that gets her out of the tree. She complains to him that she sucks at singing and that she never gets to see Nina anymore because Adele is hogging her. * Bailey annoys Ivy while she’s trying to study her music by jumping up and down on the bed and hitting the ceiling with her hands. Ivy makes her fall on her ass when she won’t stop. Then she goes and talks to Adele about Nina, and some background on Nina is given, and then Adele tells her that they need money if Jared is to be supported, and they can’t use the mission idea (they’re out of room) so Ivy and Jared will have to make the money themselves. Ivy bugs Zeke for ideas as to how she can get a job, and she decides to do odd jobs.

Friday, December 4

Chapter 2

Ivy goes to another recital and sings her best. She sees Ami sing for the first time and is very impressed. She talks to Justine after and then goes home.

Sunday, December 6

Chapter 3

Ivy’s newspaper ad comes out. She shows it to Weaver, then teases him and wrestles him. Weaver later offers to walk on her back since she is tense, and he ends up poking her with his toenails. She then lets Zeke give her a massage, then goes to read her journal entries. Bailey interrupts her reading to play a guessing game about what’s different about her. It turns out she has bought a training bra, the strap of which Ivy begins to snap mercilessly. Then Ivy and Nina have a nice chat.

Monday, December 7

Chapter 4

Ivy has a voice lesson and gets frustrated on her chord progressions, and finally she shows Justine that she can play the piano without using her hands. She grants her permission to play like that in all her lessons. Then Ivy meets Ami and the two make plans to hang out together. * When Ivy comes home and looks for food, Zeke asks her if she liked his backrub and then invites her to go to a picnic on Friday. She accepts. * Then Ivy goes to Miss Margaret’s in New York and has bread, and talks to Miss Margaret about her bad marriage.

Tuesday, December 8

Chapter 5

Ivy takes Nina’s project to school for her. * Then Ivy goes to do her first odd job, at Rosa Ortiz’s house. She paints the gutters and unclogs them, and collects her pay.

Wednesday, December 9

Chapter 6

Ivy goes to Ami’s house, plays on her computer, watches an anime movie, poses for one of Ami’s anime portraits, tells Ami all about herself, and then the two go to the mall with Ivy helping Ami walk.

Friday, December 11

Chapter 7

Zeke and Ivy have their picnic. They eat really good food and then Zeke talks Ivy into kissing him, which flips her out. They have a great talk and then Ivy does some dancing and wind art, which Zeke doesn’t understand, and then Ivy goes to North Carolina to play with Bill.

Saturday, December 12

Chapter 8

Ivy has a recital. Ami and she go out to eat afterwards, and then they go to Ami’s house. Ivy talks to Ami about whether her powers come from the devil. * Nina tells Ivy that her mom is going to have a baby.

Sunday, December 13

Chapter 9

Ivy gets frustrated over the cost of her newspaper ads, and discusses with Bailey her baby-sitting ideas. Bailey announces that she has a boyfriend. Ivy suggests that Bailey be truthful with her boyfriend about herself, and Bailey panics and leaves. * Ivy goes flying and Zeke calls her down out of a thunderstorm. The two “fight” on the beach and Zeke ends up kissing her again, and Ivy doesn’t kill him. Robin comes and calls them inside, and then they find out that the “family” has been watching their wrestling (and kissing) antics. They go take showers. (Separately, of course.) * Miki plays with her “Rhine” cards and asks for Ivy’s help, then invites her and some others to go with her to the ESP experiment for a little extra cash. Ivy agrees.

Monday, December 14

Chapter 10

Ivy hangs out and does Mash with her girlfriends. Then they go see a movie, and Ivy gets bored after she returns home. She goes flying for amusement and finds it not very amusing. She comes back down and finds Zeke drinking wine on the roof, reading, and she decides to keep him company. It turns out that he is up there to fix the chimney but hasn’t been able to, so he gets Ivy to do it, thus putting in some background about exactly how her power works and under what conditions. Then Zeke starts getting mushy with her and it makes her cry again. Ivy distracts Zeke and herself by flying the two of them up to watch some birds fly by.

Ivy is reading more of her older journal entries when Bailey comes in to tell her that she got her period. They have an argument and Ivy ends up walking on the ceiling to piss Bailey off. Then Zeke comes in and invites her to a Christmas party. She finally accepts, after a long process of being convinced.

Ivy goes to Miss Margaret’s bake shop and chats.

Chapter 17

Ivy and Jared play Monopoly and Jared accuses Ivy of cheating. She goes off to get a dress at the mall. * Zeke hates her dress. He askes Neptune what she thinks of it and she likes it. Then Ivy has to comfort Bailey and give her some advice because she botched her telling about herself to her friends at a party. * At night, Ivy flies with Weaver and they talk about Christmas and religion.

Chapter 18

The Christmas party. Ivy meets Zeke’s relatives and then the champagne makes her tipsy and it affects her energy. When she tries to talk to Zeke about how it’s going fuzzy on her, he plows ahead with his premeditated plan to romance her and gives her a bracelet to accompany his asking her for a dating relationship, and she freaks out and tries to fly away despite her energy not working right. She ends up stranded on top of the house and passes out.

Chapter 19

Ivy wakes up at Zeke’s house, having had energy hiccups during the night which destroyed the room. They have an argument and Ivy ends up flying out the window. She tries to talk to Adele but she’s busy, so then she goes to Miss Margaret’s place. She starts wondering if something is the matter with her because of the way she reacted to the alcohol at Zeke’s party. Miss Margaret suggests she go to a doctor.

Chapter 20

Ivy goes to the doctor’s office and is told she should basically consider herself human.

Chapter 21

Ivy goes back to Miss Margaret’s place and tells her everything that happened at the doctor’s. Miss Margaret agrees to let Ivy sleep in her place because she doesn’t want to go home. * She ends up stopping a robbery at Miss Margaret’s place, and then goes back to sleep.

Chapter 22

Miss Margaret has a talk with Ivy about what she did the night before, suggesting that she find a way to help people using her talent since she’s realized how useful it can be. She offers to “sponsor” her.

Chapter 23

Ivy finally decides that she’s going to go on this trip, and has a talk with Adele about it. She’s cancelled all her obligations and such indefinitely. * Ivy goes to talk to Miss Margaret again. Then she gets the money and goes to a restaurant to think. She ends up meeing Robert there and they have a great catch-up chat.

Chapter 24

Ivy gets a newspaper and begins looking for job opportunities. She goes to a big employment agency and is passed over because she can’t fill out the needed papers. One woman tells her to go to a volunteer and community service placement center and she goes to meet Sandra. She discusses her abilities and Sandra tells her she’ll keep an eye out for work for her. They go out to dinner.

Ivy has spent the last few days exploring and today she goes back to Sandra’s agency. She suggests that Ivy go meet Ruben Redwing, who is looking for costume designers and effects directors. * Ivy goes to Ruben’s and meets him, and is hired on the spot.

Ivy goes back to Ruben’s and finds him writing his play in his beanbag chair. They have a good chat and then go out to ice cream, Ruben discussing with her what she can and can’t do and what she’s willing to do for his play.

She ends up finding Zeke building a treehouse in the forest. She comes down and talks to him, and they somewhat resolve things. Then Ivy goes back and finds Bailey and she has a good chat with her. * Then Ivy chats with Adele about Nina’s new baby brother, who is due in a few months. * Ivy gets a note from Zeke, returning her dry-cleaned dress and her bracelet.

Chapter 29

Ivy goes to a restaurant with Ruben and his friends, and she ends up explaining to the group how she’s going to be doing the special effects in the play. They discuss the casting. * The auditions are held for the play. Ivy gets bored and goes off on her own. She comes back and has to endure more boring auditions. * Later that night Ruben is watching the video of the auditions and keeps Ivy awake at night. He finally decides on a child to play Wendy.

Ivy has a little power struggle with Ruben and ends up backing down for once in her life. She and Ruben discuss it and then Ivy tells him some reasons why she likes doing his show while he gives her a massage.

They have some fajitas. * Ivy has a bad dream about wrecking Ruben’s play and ends up breaking the lamp beside her bed. Ruben comforts her and feeds her pickles.

Friday, February 26

Chapter 34

Opening night. Ivy actually has fun with the effects and afterwards the crew and cast go out to dinner. Ivy starts feeling weird with the people there and asks Ruben to go outside with her. She realizes she likes Ruben a lot and wonders why that doesn’t make her want to kiss him like any normal human would. She asks him to try kissing her again and she still doesn’t have any emotional reaction, which makes her angry. Ruben tells her she shouldn’t be bothered by it and that she should just try to be herself. * While they’re flying home that night, Ivy takes Ruben above the clouds to see the nighttime view of the clouds. They have a talk about their pasts and other things.
