These are the journals from my childhood. The fifth grade journal has a couple illustrations, and all of them (including the ones from elementary school) have bad language. (Boy, I started early!) All the journals are only selected entries that were funny or interesting--most of my diaries at this age were devoted to bitching about my family squabbles or friends' drama. And, of course, the spelling and grammar is preserved intact in all of these documents. Besides these diaries, there's not a lot of journal-type material that survived from my younger years, though you CAN find some of my creative writing from high school at the ancient history section of my long fiction page.

Some connections:

If you liked the kiddie journal writing, you might also like the ancient history section of my novels page. Novel excerpts from when I was in high school are featured there.

For more elementary school writing, try a short story I wrote in fifth grade.

You might also enjoy my childhood drawings page. It includes some drawings that I actually did in these diaries.

You can read some dumbness from my high school planner if you want to see the sillier side of my high school journaling.
