Vitals: Floppy, slightly wavy medium blonde hair with a prematurely receding hairline. Blonde eyebrows. Average brown eyes. Light skin. Tends to avoid shaving until he has a beard, then sometimes either maintains the beard for a while or shaves it off and starts all over. Early thirties, average height, average weight.
Other features: Low, quiet voice. Looks at the floor often. Neglects his clothing, which is usually unmatched, pajama-like, or worn too many days in a row.
THE PERSONAL:
Talents/Abilities: Poetic writer. Mainly a novelist. Good with details. Connects with his emotions well. Creative and meticulous.
Weaknesses/Shortcomings: Neglects his personal health and hygiene when absorbed in writing. Is too hard on himself to ever be satisfied. Room is always a mess.
Interests: Writing, reading, symbolism, puzzles.
Other information: Is a professional, contracted fiction writer with an agent. Doesn’t pay attention to politics, religion, or (for the most part) women. Doesn’t feel particularly close to anyone in the house. Has a sister named Jen who he respects.
THE STORY:
Keenan was a new-on-the-scene published writer when Ivy came into his life. He had trouble accepting her at first and had suspicions about her motives, but eventually he consented to live with her, attracted by the opportunity to withdraw from the bustling, busy, cell-phone-oriented world into a house by the sea where he could write. Once settled, he went in and out very rarely, and never really bonded with any of the housemates. When he began to write a book in which his main character was into hang gliding, Keenan had issues getting the experiences to sound right, and in Book 1 requested that Ivy take him flying to simulate the experience. She did so and received a dedication in the book: “To Ivy, who let me celebrate the kingdom of the sky.” Ivy cited that solicited favor in an argument between her and Adele, insisting that people who never cared about her otherwise suddenly paid attention to her only if her talent was being used. Keenan does not surface much in the books, but he is almost always home.
