[Todd] Todd Michael Stevens
Series role: Introduced in Book 5, he is mainly a guy who does not know Ivy’s major secrets and likes her anyway. Ivy is intrigued by the way he treats her—accepting her as if she’s just like anyone else—and her historic battle with whether to tell him and possibly lose him or keep it a secret and feel like she’s lying is a main theme of Book 5.

THE PHYSICAL:

Vitals: Curly light brown hair, short on the sides and worn long on top, well-maintained and often styled. Average light blue eyes. Tanned skin. Mid-twenties, fairly tall, solidly built and fairly muscular.

Other features: Average-pitched but charismatic voice. Addresses people as “Miss” or “Mr.” in an endearing teasing way. Wears classy, upscale clothes, but never looks overdressed.

THE PERSONAL:

Talents/Abilities: Talking people into things, watching out for others, taking safety into account. Is athletic and adventurous.

Weaknesses/Shortcomings: Tends to underestimate others, overly skittish about concepts he doesn’t understand, has difficulty forgiving, fears the future but does nothing about it.

Interests: His dog, getting to know new people, politics and current events, rock climbing and other “extreme” sports, making fun of sensationalistic news.

Other information: Works as a hotel desk clerk, but wants to go back to school for business. Interested in politics and leans Democratic. Does not have a religious preference but believes in Creationism. Interested in dating, but not into the club/bar scene. Lives with his sister Natalie and his dog.

THE STORY:

Todd met Ivy in the library and said some cryptic things that made her think he had a secret. In searching for likely Handprints club members, she thought maybe he was hiding information that might lead her to someone, so she played friendly until Todd responded. She found out that his sister was in an experimental group of regular people exploring the psychic arts and that one girl who no longer participated might actually have some kind of power. Using this as an excuse, Ivy kept on good terms with Todd, but found she was interested in staying friends with him for its own sake. With him knowing nothing about her, she felt she was seeing what it was like to be normal, and she started liking it. Book 5 has her struggling to decide whether to tell him and be honest or to keep it bottled up and deny the very basics of the lessons she’s teaching in Handprints.
