THE STORY:
Meri Lin and Fred were together from an early age, but their parents disapproved of their marriage and they weren’t afraid of defying convention, so they just never got married. When they had their first child, they thought her looks were a little strange, but it didn’t seem an issue until Meri Lin caught strange things happening in her bedroom and thought the house had a poltergeist. After figuring out the real root of the trouble, she and Fred decided to keep their daughter’s power a secret until they’d taught her how to control it. She resisted their efforts and flew away, lost to her other life for years. Meri Lin saw an article about a “mysterious flying child” in a tabloid one day, and realized Ivy might do something else worthy of notice that would at least get in one of these silly magazines. She obsessively kept up on tabloid news for years until finally she found the article she’d been looking for. She invited Ivy back into her life and they’ve been trying to figure out the ropes ever since.
