Thanks for the time and effort invested in educating me and many who are ignorant of your stated facts.

Mindy A Smeal: I just wanted to thank you for what you have expressed on your site. I've have been struggling for a long time between wanting to be in a intimate relationship and living my life as a single person. I find that the expectations of society has brainwashed me into believing a full life has to include having a partner. When I look back over my life, I have found that I am more myself when I am in a state of being single and uninvolved with someone intimately. Like you said, intimate relationships can get messy.
asexualove.net: just letting you know about the site. That's all. Obviously there are asexual people who aren't interested in relationships - the site is available to make new friendships also with asexual people. At least with a like-minded friend you won't have the bother of 'defending' or 'justifying' yourself.
best to you,

Jo: what about masterbation. Do you do that or are you not interested in that either?
[Note from swankivy: I discussed this in #3 already.]
Trish: I'm 46, had a lot of sex in my life, but now could care less. In other words, I've been on both sides of the fence, so to speak. I can definitely understand now.
pat: hi again, julie,
thanks for responding to last night's email..i wonder if we would all be better off if we were of the asexual bent. it would definitely take a lot of the excitement out of life but the peace of mind would be something else, lol.
best,
pat
Dan: Gee, I think you just got famous. They linked to the Salon article from The Morning News which brought me here.
I haven't had a chance to read any of your writing (other than skimming this page) but this could definitely work for you.
Hope it does.

Dan: OH, forgot one little thing.
You're right, your sexuality is your own business and, although an interesting read, not my concern.
You sound like a reasonably well adjusted young lady and I wish you health and happiness in buckets.
K.A.C.: This is strange indeed. I'm 52 and the first time I heard about "asexuality" as applied to humans was a few days ago on CBC radio, when they
were interviewing a young man from San Francisco.
Personally, I'd rather be surrounded by asexuals
than by homosexuals, but that's another matter.
By the way, does one really need a website to justify one's lifestyle? Would you say that you're
being persecuted by those who don't understand?
[Note from swankivy: Since this person left no mailing addy I'll give my answer here. Yes, I "need" a website to talk about this, though I know I don't "need" to justify it. But mostly, I have a gigantic website covering every other aspect of my life, and I figured a website can both help other asexuals and explain my situation--partly so that I DON'T have to say it over and over again. I don't feel I should *have* to defend my sexuality or lack thereof, and that's kind of what the essay is about.]
