The House That Ivy Built Character Interviews

Weaver's Second Interview

Okay, you stalker, what do you say I tell you what you want to know so you can satisfy your unnatural appetite for Weaver Trivia? Don't know what possessed you to find me so interesting, but then again I kinda don't have a lot to keep me busy, so I'll humor your ass....

How did you keep your teeth clean before ya discovered toothbrushes?

Who says I discovered toothbrushes? Don't use 'em. The old crew generally chewed on certain kinds of sticks after meals, if they decided they cared at the moment. I can't say dental hygiene was ever on our list of top priorities.

Was/Is cleaning your wings difficult?

Difficult? Not really. But then again I *am* kind of used to it.

Do/Did you ever develop any fungus in them should you have not dried properly?

Fungus? Like mushrooms or something? Not that I've noticed.

Do you have an additional eyelid to shield from bugs while flying?

Erm...no. That sounds like a reptile thing. Call me crazy but I think I'm a mammal.

Have you perchance developed a taste for them?

Are we still talking about bugs?
Roast cicadas are pretty good. Other than that I have not made a habit of eating bugs. Except on the rare occasion that they are in my fruit. Then I think "hey, protein."

Did any of your early human housemates ask you to wear clothes?

Nope.

What books have you found most enjoyable?

I like philosophy books, science stuff, nature stuff...I can't get into a lot of fiction and mystery and fantasy stuff. Though I do like comic books. And I like magazines pretty much no matter what they're about. Sometimes if it doesn't have too many weird human-world references that I don't get or just stuff I'm not interested in, I can follow a good fiction story, but usually I'd rather hear a made-up story than read it.

Outside of worship of the Mother, have any other theologies sparked new insight for you?

Who you been talking to? Ergh.
I think every religion I've read something about has a point and is interesting, and every one of them has had some effect on me. But I think a lot of them haven't noticed yet how big the world is. Some of the stuff in the Bible is really great, I like the parables and the lessons even when they contradict each other, and Jesus is a really inspiring figure trying to take the guilt of the whole world onto his shoulders. I like that but I don't think the world is a death trap with only one right answer the way a lot of Christians do--that would insult Earthly existence, and that kinda annoys me. I like Buddhism and meditation. It gives a lot of meaning to the self. Judaism has a lot of traditions and places a lot of importance on remembering the past and keeping the family strong. I like faith, I like spiritual things. Dogma is what I don't like.

Has Alix ever been of use?

Of course. When it comes right down to it down in the old days he was a really good, helpful part of our group. I just wish he hadn't gotten so self-important, and that he'd bring that girly blonde head of his out of his asshole now and then.

Have you ever been called a chupacabra?

Not unless you're calling me that right now.

How did you come to learn English?

Well I don't know how I got to this place from wherever I'm really from, but some guy kept me in his weird dark house for a long time. He talked to me and I'm pretty intelligent, and I guess I forgot all the language I used to speak so I remember being pretty desperate to learn this one. After that I got my charming modern diction from watching a hell of a lot of TV.

Do you write?

Not really.

Is there any form of art you happen to appreciate?

Um, not really. I said I like comic books, so I suppose anything that's colorful.

Do you have any instinctive reaction to weather conditions, thunderstorms and the like?

Instinctive? Nothing I can think of beyond "Hey, I somehow find myself wanting to hit the sand before that lightning bolt gets friendly." I feel really sapped for energy when it's really hot, if that helps.

Does alcohol have an adverse effect on you?

It certainly does cause a buzz. But I wouldn't call that an adverse effect. That said, it's for once in a while. I never want to be a bottle nurser like Alix.

With your ears, one would think you'd have better hearing than any humanoid, even the sharp eared Ivy. So do you not develop headaches playing your radio so loudly? Or have your tumbles with the aforementioned lass caused you damage therein?

I'm sure this reference to Ivy as "sharp eared" would cause her endless amusement. Especially when she was punching your face. She's funny, all sensitive about those two or three tiny little things that make her not just like everybody else, boo-hoo.
Anyway.
I've got pretty good hearing, yeah. But loud stuff doesn't really bug me. I like music to be loud enough that I can sort of feel it. Good stuff.

You got any more fucked up shit to ask me? Or any of the others?

I'm the most interesting of course.

Hey, is this gonna be published anywhere? You need a picture? I got a really hilarious Polaroid featuring me with a whole mango in my mouth.
