Amoss, Berthe | Five Fairy Tale Princesses | This was supposed to be a "book and charm bracelet," but I bought it at the library book sale and the charm bracelet was not there anymore. I got it for the Sleeping Beauty story in it, but there are four others. |
Anime Kikaku | Nemuri no Mori no Hime | Japanese manga-like version of Sleeping Beauty--the English title is "Sleeping Princess of the Forest." It's all in Japanese, so I can't read it. |
Barker, Cicely Mary; Warne Books | Buttercup Goes to the Ball | A Flower Fairies book for little girls; I collect her stuff, so I bought it. |
Barker, Cicely Mary; Warne Books | How Zinnia Got Her Name | Same as above. |
Barker, Cicely Mary; Warne Books | Lavender Finds a Friend | Same as above. |
Bate, Lucy; DeGroat, Diane | Little Rabbit's Loose Tooth | One of my favorites as a child, though either myself or my sister doodled all through it in orange crayon. |
Boynton, Sandra | Grunt: Pigorian Chant | It's got a CD and stuff, a parody of the Gregorian chant thing; gift from my college roomie John. |
Bracken Books | Best Loved Fairy Tales | Bought used and out of print, nicely illustrated book that just happens to have a Sleeping Beauty tale. |
Bragg, Juliana; Martin, Charles E. | The Story of Jonah | "Bible Story" type thing I was given as a child, I loved the illustrations. |
Brierley, Jane | Sleeping Beauty | Cute classic storybook. |
Burningham, John | The Friend | My teacher gave me this in kindergarten. I still treasure it, because I loved Mrs. Sparks. |
Cooney, Barbara | Only Opal: The Diary of a Young Girl | I became aware of the existence of Opal Whiteley through contact with my Flight friends (long story), and was surprised many years later to find that there was a sort of children's biography of her, composed (just like The Fairyland Around Us) from her diary. I got it on the sale table at my bookstore. |
Dale, Penny | Princess, Princess | This is a sort of warped version of Sleeping Beauty (which is why I got it), uncharacteristically showing the redemption of the "bad fairy." Guess why I like it? (Illustrations aren't bad either!) |
Desclot, Miguel; Abbrederis, Christoph | The Sleeping Beauty/La Bella Durmiente | English and Spanish version of the tale. |
Easton, Samantha; Bywaters, Lynn | Sleeping Beauty | Little bitty storybook of the classic tale. |
Faulkner, Keith; Galvani, Maureen | Pick-a-Tale Fairy Tales | It had a Sleeping Beauty tale so I picked it up. |
Hapka, Catherine (adapted by) | Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty | Read-Aloud Storybook of the Disney movie version. |
Kassirer, Sue | Barbie: Sleeping Beauty | I only got this because it's a version of Sleeping Beauty, I must say I'm not a Barbie fan. |
Kent, Jack | There's No Such Thing As a Dragon | This actually belonged to my sister (as evidenced by the large printed "PATTIE" inside), but I took it for preservation because it was one of our favorites. |
Kloske, Geoffrey; Blitt, Barry | Once Upon a Time, the End | A cute children's book where the whole point of each tale is to make it as short as possible so the kid will go to bed. Hahah. Inherited from my manager's spoils from going to a seminar. |
Larkin, Rochelle; Banek, Yvette | My Very First Sleeping Beauty Storybook | Woo-hoo, Sleeping Beauty at a secondhand store for 69¢! |
Lester, Helen | Tacky the Penguin | Bought this to go with a unit I was writing for kids when I was a teaching student. I liked its message of being different from the crowd, so I used it for a project. |
McBratney, Sam; Jeram, Anita | Guess How Much I Love You | Given to me--as an adult--by Fred. Weirdo. |
McCole, Danielle (retold by) | The Classic Treasury of Grimm's Fairy Tales | A nicely illustrated version of Sleeping Beauty is one of the tales in here. |
Modern Publishing | Sleeping Beauty | If you don't know why I collect Sleeping Beauty/Brier Rose books, find out. |
Mouse Works | Sleeping Beauty | Here's the Disney version, a British printing. |
Nemerson, Roy (adapted by) | Grimm's Fairy Tales: Great Illustrated Classics | It has a Sleeping Beauty story. |
Parragon Publishing | The Bedtime Treasury | I got this because it features a Sleeping Beauty story. But maybe someday I'll read a bedtime story to a kid from it. |
Parragon Publishing | Sleeping Beauty | Little "Treasured Tales" book that originally came with a tape. I bought the book alone at a library book sale. |
Perrault, Charles | The Complete Fairy Tales of Charles Perrault | I got this because it features a Sleeping Beauty story. One of those weird old original ones. |
Perrault, Charles | Sleeping Beauty: A Giant Fairy Story | Big version bought at the library book sale. |
Perrault, Charles | The Sleeping Beauty In the Wood | Guess. |
Peters, Amy | The Everything Fairy Tales Book | This is a cool thing to have, 100 stories; I got it because of 3 of its 359 pages (the ones that have Sleeping Beauty on them). |
Parragon Publishing | Treasured Tales | Illustrated storybook, has a Sleeping Beauty tale in it. |
Popular Group | One-Hundred-and-One Read-Aloud Classics | I got this because it had a Sleeping Beauty version in it, but it's useful for all the other tales too. |
Posner, Pat & Young, Hilda | Traditional Fairy Tales | Um . . . Sleeping Beauty story. |
Publications International, Ltd. | Fairy Tales: Keepsake Edition | A Sleeping Beauty story is in here. |
Publications International, Ltd. | Read-Together Treasury: Fairy Tales | A Sleeping Beauty story is in here. |
Publications International, Ltd. | Rumpelstiltskin | Random cute little fairy tale book Mike got me. |
Publications International, Ltd. | The Sleeping Beauty | It's a version of Sleeping Beauty, so I have it. |
Publications International, Ltd. | The Sleeping Beauty | This is like exactly the same as the one above, except it's little. Mike got me this. |
Publications International, Ltd. | Treasury of Fairy Tales | You guessed it; I got this because it has Sleeping Beauty in it. |
Rupnik, Louise | My Bedtime Book of Favorite Princess Stories | Has Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, The Frog Prince, and . . . you guessed it . . . Sleeping Beauty. |
Schimmel, Schim | Dear Children of the Earth | Nice environmentally-oriented kids' book! |
Scholastic | Teletubbies: Dancing With the Skirt | I bought this because it is hilarious. Tinky-Winky, the Teletubbie rumored to be gay, refuses to share well with the skirt, and doesn't want to take it off when his turn is over. Dipsy, on the other hand (the other male Teletubbie), really, really doesn't want to put it on. HAHA! |
Schwarz, Eugene | Two Brothers | I used to retell this story to my sister when we were in bed, and reinvent the end 'cause she didn't like it. Found the storybook many years later! |
Scriven, R.C. | The Full Color Fairytale Book | Nice out of print version with an old Sleeping Beauty tale! |
Sugar, Rebecca; Ford, Tiffany; & Michalka, Elle | The Answer | The story of Ruby and Sapphire from Steven Universe. I preordered it from Amazon as soon as I knew it existed! |
Sugar, Rebecca & Wang, Angie | Fusion for Beginners and Experts | A Steven Universe relationship guide that I preordered from Amazon. |
Sugar, Rebecca | Guide to the Crystal Gems | A little Steven Universe companion guide to the characters from the show. Had to have it since I'm a huge fan, so I preordered it. :) |
Sugar, Rebecca; Michalka, Elle; & Wang, Angie | The Tale of Steven | An identity-affirming storybook about Pink Diamond, Rose Quartz, and Steven. |
Superscope | Sleeping Beauty | Part of a set that got separated and given to a hospice thrift store: I bought it despite its not having any other books in its set, and it's interesting because for once the bad fairy has a name. :) |
Sweetwater Press | Fairy Tails: Sleeping Beauty | It's the classic tale, except the illustrations are all photographs of dogs in costumes. Seriously. |
Teitelbaum, Michael (adapted by) | Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty | Ahh, the Disney version of Sleeping Beauty. |
They Might Be Giants | Bed, Bed, Bed | Comes with a CD! One of my favorite bands has a children's book. Yay. |
Thorpe, Kiki | My Side of the Story: Sleeping Beauty/Maleficent | This is a two-sided book that tells the "Sleeping Beauty" story from Aurora's point of view and also from Maleficent's. It's frightening how many parallels there are to my story, heh! |
Viorst, Judith | Sunday Morning | Had this since childhood; very loved book with superb illustrations. |
Williams, Margery | The Velveteen Rabbit | This one came with a tape that we listened to incessantly. I don't know where the tape is but I can still hear it when I read this book. Classic. |
Wonder Books | Read-Aloud Fairy Tales | Black and white illustrations in this collection. Has a Sleeping Beauty story. |
